CC DIY Epoxy for Tumblers: Artist Resin vs Fast Set Turbo — Which Should You Use?

Use Artist Resin for the build coats — it self-levels, has a long working time, and cures clear without rushing. Use Fast Set Turbo for the final coat — it cures in 55 minutes, which means you can ship a finished tumbler the same day instead of waiting 24–48 hours. Most production tumbler crafters end up using both on the same tumbler.

What makes them different

Both formulas mix 1:1 by volume. Both are non-toxic and VOC-free per Counter Culture DIY's product specifications. Both cure crystal clear. The differences: viscosity, working time, and cure speed.

Artist Resin: thicker viscosity, longer working time (30–45 minutes before it begins to gel), 24–72 hour full cure depending on ambient temperature. Self-levels at 15–20 RPM on a standard cup turner.

Fast Set Turbo: thinner viscosity, shorter working time (15–20 minutes), 55-minute full cure for thin coats. For production lines where waiting 24 hours per coat is the bottleneck.

When Artist Resin is the right choice

The production workflow: using both

1. Coat 1 — Artist Resin: apply at 15–20 RPM, torch bubbles, cure 24 hours
2. Coat 2 (if needed) — Artist Resin: build thickness, cure 24 hours
3. Final coat — Fast Set Turbo: thin finishing coat for gloss seal, 55-minute cure
4. Wrap and ship

Mixing tips

• Measure by volume, not weight
• Stir for the full 3 minutes, scraping sides and bottom
• Pour immediately after mixing for Fast Set Turbo
• Work between 70–76°F (21–24°C) for both formulas
