How to Build a DTF Gang Sheet: A Canadian Crafter's Guide

May 26, 2026

A DTF gang sheet is a single transfer film that holds multiple designs arranged to minimize wasted film. Instead of ordering 10 separate transfers, you arrange 10 designs on one sheet — lower cost per design, one shipping label. You build one by sizing your designs, nesting them with minimal gaps, exporting as a single 300 DPI PNG with transparent background, and uploading to a DTF printer.

Why gang sheets cost less than individual transfers

DTF printers price by sheet area, not by design count. A 22” × 36” gang sheet with 20 designs costs the same to produce as a 22” × 36” sheet with one large design. Nesting your designs efficiently means you're paying for film, not for the quantity of different graphics.

Gang sheet dimensions at Pressing Images

Our gang sheets print 22 inches wide at any length in 12-inch increments.

Sheet size Fits approximately
22” × 12” 12–15 small pocket designs or 4–6 chest prints
22” × 24” 20–30 small designs or 8–12 full chest prints
22” × 36” 30–45 small designs or 12–18 full chest prints

File requirements before you build

  • PNG format with transparent background — no white background, no JPEG
  • 300 DPI minimum — check in Photoshop: Image → Image Size
  • RGB colour mode — not CMYK. Uploading CMYK causes colour shift on print.
  • Each design as a separate file — the builder arranges them automatically

Using PI's Gang Sheet Autobuilder

  1. Upload your PNG files (transparent background, 300 DPI, RGB)
  2. Set the quantity of each design
  3. Select sheet width (22 inches) and build
  4. The tool nests designs to minimize gaps
  5. Review the layout and adjust if needed
  6. Place the order — ships same day if ordered before noon Mountain Time

Common gang sheet mistakes

  • Low DPI: prints blurry. Can't upscale after the fact.
  • White background instead of transparent: shows as a white box around your design.
  • CMYK file: colours shift on print. Convert to RGB first.
  • Designs too close to sheet edge: leave at least 5mm from the edge.
